There are two reasons for this. One is our dedication to using only fresh, local ingredients. We work in tune with nature, and it’s not in our DNA to try to ‘cheat’ that process. The care and time we put into creating each individual product means we are small-scale, and happy to be that way.
Also, procuring post-consumer materials for packaging is a tough job – the options available on the global market are still scarce and expensive. However, it is important that we vote with our wallets and purchase these, so that suppliers can respond with innovation and, with time, cheaper pricing. It is a nail-biting experience taking this leap, but we all need to pull our weight on this global issue.
The world of certification is an interesting one. Although we can get assurance that suppliers adhere to organic practices, it means that our business is automatically handed to those who can afford certification. Some of our suppliers have achieved certification. However, we also have suppliers on our doorstep who have magnificent ingredients, farmed by nature, but no documents to speak of. Rather than turn them away and work with larger companies, we decided to hold off calling ourselves an organic certified company and focus on impact first.
Our ingredients list indicates which ingredients were farmed using organic practices. In various instances the ingredients are wild, where it would be unthinkable to add fertilizer or pesticide. Such ingredients are the absolute kindest to our planet – more so than an organic certified ingredient that requires vast amounts of water and land to grow.

To our Mamas, it is a great source of pride and joy to share their work with visitors. We find it important to have an open-door policy. In an online world where we are no longer sure of what is authentic and genuine – and where the virtual world acts as a smokescreen – we want our customers to be able to touch and experience our work first-hand.
